Everyone needs a listening ear at some point in their life.
Hello! I am Anand Barkataki (He/Him), an intern Marriage and Family Therapist from India. I am currently pursuing my M.A. Marriage and Family Therapy at Wheaton College (Illinois), prior to which I received my M.Sc. Counseling Psychology degree from Sampurna Montfort College in Bangalore, India, and worked in India for 2 years as a counselor.
In my practice, I combine a client-centered approach with Bowen’s Family Systems Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). In my sessions, I focus on listening to my clients and bringing insight into patterns and cycles at play, before collaboratively finding ways of addressing their concerns and teaching them the tools necessary to continue managing their emotions and concerns in the future.
I have previously worked with adolescents and adults struggling with abuse, addiction, anger, anxiety, breakups, depression, family conflict, grief, loneliness, low self-esteem, and stress, among other concerns.
Outside sessions, I enjoy listening to music, eating good food, working out, singing and reading, but not all at once!
