HANNAH COOK, MA

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Post-Grad

Sycamore office and online via telehealth

I recently encountered a powerful quote: “When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it’s our job to share our calm, not join their chaos.” This philosophy resonates deeply with my therapeutic approach, which emphasizes creating a consistent and reliable support system for children, adolescents, and their families. My goal is to provide the guidance and tools necessary to navigate life’s challenges. Through empathy and patience, I strive to foster emotional resilience and personal growth, believing that every individual has the potential to heal and grow when provided the proper tools and encouragement.

I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can process their emotions, build skills, and develop the confidence to thrive. My therapeutic style is rooted in a person-centered approach, meeting clients where they are on their unique journey and walking alongside them as they grow. In addition to a person-centered approach, I also have experience integrating evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to tailor my work to each client’s unique needs.

As a play therapist, I utilize play therapy to create a developmentally appropriate and interactive space where children and adolescents can explore their emotions, process their experiences, and develop essential coping skills, all within a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages growth and healing.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Olivet Nazarene University and recently earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Spring Arbor University. While I primarily work with children and adolescents, I have experience supporting individuals across all age groups. My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, ADHD, bullying, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions.
